graphic.
I'm going to share some images from my Pinterest boards. I sort of love these graphic patterns on the floor... plus the colors are great.

This is both exciting and daunting. The prospect of having our own space makes me so happy. The prospect of having to make all of those decisions overwhelms me.
Bamboo floors? Cork? End-cut wood? Linoleum? Carpet tiles? Stained concrete? Reclaimed wood?
Stainless steel counters? Concrete? Butcher block?
How much antique, how much modern?
In short, I don't even know to begin. I guess the next step is to get the yes we've been waiting for, and we'll go from there.

the kitchen sink

Lately I've been loving stainless steel sinks, like these. I love the stainless bib front, because it has the glamor of a bib front without the grime drawbacks of porcelain. I love the welded-in sink with stainless counters because there is no edge or crack to collect scum. Brilliant!

jacob's ladder
[via]
Look at this awesome place, and notice the rail on the stairway.Last Monday we visited two model homes in our local New Urbanist Community. They were modern-esque (my sister-in-law and I were discussing that Ikea furniture and a non-pitched roof doesn't necessarily make a house modern) and both had super awesome rails along the stairs, with horizontal elements. Like this one, but not as cool:

But then the parents in the group (not us) pointed out the child climbing factor, which I totally hand't considered, which could be really bad. So anyway, the first picture, with the modern but not ladder-like stair rail is super cool. I love it.
